On September 27 the largest artwork by RAAAF | Atelier de Lyon so far will be opened: Deltawerk //. A giant concrete wave basin at national monument Waterloopbos served as a test-site for the Delta Works. With the aim of building an indestructible delta below sea level, engineers experimented in this colossal structure with strong tsunami- and other waves, until it became vacant. Over the past six months we’ve been busy digging out and slicing open this 250 meter long monument of the Dutch struggle against the water.

Deltawerk // questions the pursuit of indestructability and is at the same time an experiment in itself. Just like our cut national monument Bunker 599, the artwork is a call for a radically different approach to cultural heritage: Hardcore Heritage.
